INSIDE CADDO LAKE INSTITUTE
Caddo Lake Institute is deeply committed to working alongside local communities, conservation groups, and government partners to safeguard the natural wonder that is Caddo Lake. Together, we are focused on restoring the lake’s natural flow, healing water quality across the watershed, controlling the spread of invasive species, and protecting vital lands that support the region’s rich biodiversity. This shared dedication has helped earn Caddo Lake the distinction of being named a “Wetland of International Importance” under the Ramsar Convention, a global agreement established in 1971 to protect wetlands around the world.
Caddo Lake Institute was selected as a Texan by Nature Conservation Wrangler in 2023. During each Conservation Wrangler program cycle, Texan by Nature provides up to 6 projects with 12-18 months of tailored support in the form of program management, strategic planning, marketing messaging, metrics capture and analysis, professional content production, and partnership development – whatever is needed to accelerate the project. The information below includes results from the time the project was active in the Conservation Wrangler program.
